This policy explains what ebcobook.com does with your personal data. If you only browse, we collect nothing you would recognise as personal data: there is no account, no newsletter and no tracking. If you buy a book directly from us, the payment provider collects what it needs to take your payment and we keep the record needed to deliver your book and support you. What we collect when you browse
Nothing you would recognise as personal data. This site has no sign-up, no contact form, no comments, no newsletter and no shopping basket, so nothing here asks you for your details.
Our server keeps short-lived request logs, including IP addresses, to apply rate limits and to spot abuse. They are not used to profile anyone and are discarded within a short period.
If you email us, we hold that email for as long as it takes to answer you and, where it concerns a purchase, for as long as we keep the purchase record.
What is collected when you buy directly
Direct purchases are handled by a third-party payment provider acting as Merchant of Record; we intend to use Lemon Squeezy. Its checkout collects your name, email address, billing details (such as country and, where required, address and tax information), and your payment details, under its own privacy policy. It is the controller for that payment data.
From each direct purchase we receive and keep: your name and email address, which book you bought, the transaction reference, the amount and currency, and the technical information needed to deliver the file and help you if something goes wrong. We keep this because it is the record of your purchase and what lets us reissue a download link or process a refund.
We never see or store your card number. Payment happens entirely inside the provider's checkout; card data does not reach our servers.
Until direct purchasing is switched on, no purchase happens on this site and we hold no orders.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and no third-party tracking of any kind. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, and no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
The only cookie the site itself sets is a sign-in token for the private administration area, which is used by the site owner and never by readers.
The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser therefore requests the font files from Google's servers, which see your IP address in the process, under Google's privacy policy. No other third-party script or resource is loaded on the public pages.
When you leave for a retailer
Clicking a retailer link takes you to a company we do not control — Apple, Barnes & Noble, Kobo and the rest. From that moment their privacy policy applies, not this one.
Those links carry no affiliate or referral tracking, so we receive no notification that you clicked, and no report of what you bought.
Who else processes your data
Our hosting provider, which runs the server this site sits on and therefore handles the request logs described above.
Google, which serves the font files described above.
Our payment provider and Merchant of Record for direct purchases, once direct purchasing is live — intended to be Lemon Squeezy — which processes your payment, issues your receipt and download email, and holds the billing data associated with the transaction under its own privacy policy.
That is the complete list. We use no analytics provider, no advertising network and no email marketing service. We do not sell or share data for advertising, and we send no marketing email. Buying a book does not subscribe you to anything.
How long we keep it
Purchase records are kept for as long as we are required to for tax and accounting purposes, and so that we can honour reissue and refund requests.
Server request logs are rotated and discarded within a short period.
Your rights and contact
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the data held about you, correct it, have it deleted, or object to how it is used.
To exercise any of these, or to ask anything about this policy, write to [email protected]. Because purchase records are keyed to your email address, we may need you to write from the address you bought with. For anything relating to your payment or invoice, the payment provider is the controller and you may also contact it directly.
If you believe we have mishandled your data, you may complain to your local data protection authority.
